Triptych Avalonia
The triptych is titled Avalonia. I chose the name Avalonia as a reference to the mythical island of Avalon, a place associated with spiritual and magical powers. This reflects the mysterious and powerful nature of my character and her world.
In the photo series, you see three different images that tell the story of my character, Eira, a druid. She is a young, mysterious woman who is well educated and has the ability to heal people using natural remedies. She makes an offering to nature and the gods to honor them and to ask for forgiveness, because her fellow villagers have removed the sacred oak from the hill, which is an important ceremonial place.
For the medium of fashion photography, I wanted to emphasize the clothing and
I was allowed to borrow a garment made by Fashion Design graduate Vivienne Vreeburg. Her final project, a clothing collection, was
inspired by fairy tale characters and specifically their silhouettes.

The goal of the story with this garment is to show the strength of women.
I refer to the location as an important place for Druids. It is known that they are responsible for leading sacrifices and ceremonies that take place at their meeting places atop a mountain. There, a tree is located that is revered and is called the oak 'Holiness'. In my story, this sacred tree has been removed by humans. A Druid is also a human, but one who stands between humans and the gods. She is the one who wants to rectify this mistake and holds her ceremony there. The chosen theme 'tree' is reflected in the crown. I wanted the mysterious Eira to be a bearer of 'the oak of Holiness', again referencing the story.
